Elvie Vs Willow Pump (Differences)

#1. Flange Size

The right flange size is important for both comfort and efficiency, so it’s worth taking the time to figure out which size is right for you. According to Willow, the size measuring chart helps you make the decision.

Willow measuring guide

Elvie breast pump provides 24mm, and 28mm flanges. But if you need the smaller size, you need to order the 21mm separately.

While the Willow breast pump offers 21mm, 24mm, and 27mm flanges.

So, if you’re looking for a breast pump for bigger breast with a larger flange size, the Elvie is the way to go.

However, it’s important to note that the wrong size breast shield can damage your nipples, so it’s important to choose the right size for your body.

#2. Milk Container

Milk Container

Elvie uses a reusable bottle which holds 5 oz. (150 ml) milk each side.

Willow, on the other hand, allows you to pump either into milk bags or a reusable container. Both the bags and the container hold 4oz (120 ml) milk each side. You can not reuse these milk bags.

You don’t need to worry about overflowing, as the Willow and Elvie are equipped with sensors that automatically shut off when it senses a full.

So, if you’re looking for a breast pump that holds more milk, consider the Elvie.

#3. Spill-Proof Pumping

Spill-proof design makes the Willow a convenient pumping system. You can pump in any position including lying down. Additionally, you can do your yoga practice while pumping.

Using the Elvie double electric breast pump, you must maintain an upright position like sitting, standing and walking. The Elvie breast pump does not have protective technology against spills.

#4. Pump Maintenance

The Elvie pump has 5 parts that need to be cleaned, including the valve, spout, bottle, seal, and breast shield. You can wash these pump parts by hand or on the top shelf of the dishwasher. Before reusing the pump part, ensure it is completely dry.

You can also sterilize the Elvie’s pump parts using boiling water, a microwave steam bag, or the dishwasher.

On the other hand, Willow offers only two parts for cleaning, flange and a tube. You can manually wash these parts in the bowl or on the top shelf of the dish rack. If you use the reusable milk container, you add a third part to your cleaning process.

Willow advises not using a microwave sterilizer bag to sterilize their pump parts. The parts can be disinfected with a dishwasher, a countertop sterilizer, or boiling water.

Willow has fewer parts than the Elvie pump to maintain, which makes it simpler to clean.

#5. Product Size

Elvie is smaller and more discreet than the Willow, making it easier to use in public. The willow is about 1.5 times as heavy as the Elvie which makes it bulkier.

Elvie is the clear winner in terms of size.

#6. Sounds

Elvie is known as the silent breast pump because it is virtually silent when in use.

Willow, on the other hand, is known as the quiet breast pump because it produces a slight humming noise when in use.

With 96% of women surveyed agreeing that Elvie is noiseless. So, Elvie is quieter than Willow.  It won’t be easy for you or anyone else to hear it while the pump works inside your bra.

#7. Battery

Both Elvie and Willow wearable breast pumps take around 2 hours to fully charge. But the Elvie lasts for pumping of 2.5 hours, while the Willow lasts for five pumping sessions.

You can charge both pumps simultaneously as the Elvie comes with two charging cords.

Be aware that, with the Willow, you need to buy an extra willow charger to charge both pumps simultaneously, and only one is included with the pump.

#8. Warranty

Elvie offers 2-year warranty and 90 days on the pump parts.

Willow breast pump provides 1-year warranty, which starts from the purchase date of breast pump, and 90 days on pump parts.

The Elvie beats the Willow breast pump with a higher warranty duration.

#9. Customer Support

Both breast pumps have a customer support team that talks with its customers, including if you have any issue about their product or service.

Elvie only allows customers to submit enquiries by email ([email protected]), whereas Willow offers support through DM (1-888-WILLOW-3) or by phone during business hours .

Willow tends to win in this category because it has high access to customer support.

#10. Price

Both the Elvie and the Willow are similarly priced at around $500 for double pumps.

The answer to this question is that it depends on your individual health insurance plan. Some insurance plans will cover both Elvie and Willow pumps, while others will only cover one or the other.

However, you should check with your insurance provider to see what kind of reimbursement you may be eligible for. This will vary among insurance companies, so it is important to be aware of your specific policy coverage.
